Right, exactly like that. Burning something in a ritual is also a way for you to like ...release the energy out of it, if that makes sense. You could easily set up a few candles around a small campfire set up.

This is...selfish of me, probably, but the idea of you taking something that's supposed to represent you and just smashing it like it's bad or unwanted doesn't ...sit well with me, I guess.

Sacrificing it in an actual ritual means you're giving it to it's next new purpose, which sounds more like what sacrificing should mean.
