No one in Remnant had ever questioned this little fact of his life. He was the Next Ozpin, of course his Aura was green. Oscar himself didn't think to question it either, for what he had gained by choosing to heed Oz's directions far surpassed anything he would have kept by remaining on the farm. A chance to see the world and figure out the person he was supposed to be was not a luxury given to rural farm boys living well outside the nearest city. Then, once affairs started to tumble into place, they never stopped.
Until Deerington.
As chaotic as life in Deerington was, it still was not as chaotic and dangerous as life in Remnant. They had time to think and learn that was not afforded to them otherwise--
But, as small as this detail was-- Oscar couldn't help but laugh.]
Orange? Really? Like,really really?
[He beamed.]
That's so cool! Orange and blue are great together!
[Oh, so he really didn't know. It makes sense, when Oscar explains it. That the way Aura's seem to work on Remnant, it's something you have to train or unlock and that Oscar never had a reason to do it himself until after Ozpin butted his way in. So, yeah, why wouldn't he know what his own Aura looked like?]
[It made sense but it also made him kind of sad. And- that he was the one to tell him what it really looked like, he's glad. Especially with the way Oscar is smiling at him.]
[He smiles back, something soft and genuine. If he'd known, he would have told him ages ago.]
Yeah, dude. If you want, I can try and replicate it, I think I remember it pretty well. We looted the art store last month so Mabel has a ton of paints. We'll work on it for you.
[A pause and he blushes bright red all over again. He definitely agreed about their colors going with each other, since he wore blue and orange all the time. Now he feels a little embarrassed! Was this color!destiny? Or something?]
[For an instant he seemed to be no more than exactly how he looked-- a goofy fifteen year old kid caught up in matters that were too big for him. As dire as their situations looked, both at home and in Deerington, it was always the little things that made the most difference.]
I-I mean, if it's no trouble! My people have given your people enough trouble lately, and I don't wanna add to it.
But...
[He sobered, deeply flustered and almost shy in his manner.]
I'm glad you think our colors are cool together. Really glad.
[Ah, there it is. Seeing Oscar smile like that brought a certain warmth to his chest. He wished he could laugh like that more often.]
[He decides then, that he'll do his best to try and make that so.]
It's no trouble, dude. I wouldn't have offered, otherwise.
[Oscar gets boyfriend privileges!! That is the way it is. Mabel will probably ecstatic to help him with this.]
[After a moment of basking in that, something else comes to mind and Dipper debates bringing it back up lest it might kill the mood. He debates internally for a beat, expression shifting to something uncertain before he finally just decides to ask.]
[It was strange and humbling to realize that he had not lost Boyfriend Privileges. He had never done anything romantic before-- at least, in this lifetime-- and it was far softer and warmer than he had expected. A small, goofy little smile lit his face, and he was about to say something before Dipper beat him to it.
[He asks this like he's asking for clarification, to make sure he heard Oscar right. Nothing judgemental or anything.]
That's fine, I- we actually almost decided to do the same thing but, we're all going to awaken it, instead. As a family. I just thought maybe you'd want to know.
[Whatever that choice means, whatever effect it will happen when they reach the other side, Oscar should probably know that in this case, Dipper is taking a different path.]
I'm not going to talk you out of your choice, I think you have a really good reason for what you decided, but I wanted to know if you might ...hear me out on one thing.
[It was all he could ultimately ask for from anyone-- their support and understanding. Oscar knew it was a risk, but he had no doubts or regrets about his decision.]

[Dipper won't lie, he's a little afraid for Oscar. Not knowing what these choices might mean has been giving him the worst anxiety nightmares this month, and it's all he can do to keep himself sane, worrying about the limitless possibilities.]
[Whatever happens on the other side, Dipper will do what he can to find him again. With luck the both of them will still be themselves enough for it to matter.]
...Don't just smash it. I- what I mean is, that egg is basically you, right? So, even if you're sacrificing it, do it in a way that's um, nicer.
[He realizes that as he says this out loud he sounds a little crazy, so he tries to follow it up with a better explanation.]
When we plan to sacrifice the eggs we're going to sacrifice, we're going to burn them. Burning is used pretty commonly in rituals in general, and it's a little like giving them a proper send off, if that makes sense.
[He looks away, awkwardly rubbing at the back of his neck. Oscar crushing an egg that's supposed to represent him really made him uneasy.]
If you just smash it ...I kind of worry what that might translate to, in the end.
[It was frightening-- but so was the prospect of both Ozpin and himself merging into a singular being, with the both of them losing parts of themselves and gaining new pieces in the process. Oscar listened to Dipper's explanation, his request for a gentler approach to be taken in regards to his decision to 'sacrifice'... and, despite his own worries, he found himself smiling.]
I'll find an appropriate, respectful way to do this, Dipper. This is new to me... but it's the same as making a request of Julia, right?
Don't go over the top... but don't be cruel, either.
[He tugged at his disheveled hair and looked away as well, feeling both awkward and bashful about the entire situation. His heart fluttered in his chest with Dipper's worry, however, and he found himself worried as well.

[Dipper nods when Oscar connects it to the requests they've made to Julia. That's honestly very apt and was an example he was planning to use if Oscar needed clarification.]
Right, exactly like that. Burning something in a ritual is also a way for you to like ...release the energy out of it, if that makes sense. You could easily set up a few candles around a small campfire set up.
[This is nerdy, but Dipper feels very strongly about this. Magic and its use back home is something that's very specifically different for their worlds. This is...selfish of me, probably, but the idea of you taking something that's supposed to represent you and just smashing it like it's bad or unwanted doesn't ...sit well with me, I guess.
Sacrificing it in an actual ritual means you're giving it to it's next new purpose, which sounds more like what sacrificing should mean.
[He smiled softly-- a melancholy, almost lonely expression. While he had Ruby and everyone else in the house he was staying in, a part of him longed to see Dipper. Oscar wanted Dipper to be a part of this process, even though they had chosen different pathways.
After all, until this point he had no idea how he was going to appropriately sacrifice any of the eggs.]
That's... kinda my plan? I mean...
I want to have a new purpose. Whatever that looks like in the place we're going. And, I want to have this beside you and everyone else too.
